Do you have a funny, heartwarming, delicious or otherwise entertaining tale about Thanksgiving aboard your boat? Then Three Sheets Northwest, your local online boating magazine, wants to hear from you!
In preparation for this year’s Turkey Day, Three Sheets Northwest is collecting stories from readers about Thanksgiving afloat. We’ll select a few of the best to feature on our homepage, www.threesheetsnw.com, in the run up to Thanksgiving. And we will post all appropriate entries on our upcoming community blog “Guest Dock.”
So what’s in it for you? Well, the glory and bragging rights that go along with having an article on our website. And for the author who we feel best captures the spirit of the holiday, we’ll provide a $50 gift certificate to Fisheries Supply or West Marine.
Submissions can be any length up to 500 words (and if you really need the space, maybe a little longer). Vignettes are fine too. And accompanying photos would be wonderful--in addition to earning a few brownie points with the Three Sheets judging team.
Deadline for submissions is Thursday Nov. 19 by 6 p.m.
Send your stories and photos to marty@threesheetsnw.com
Thanks!
Liveaboards - Partners in Environmental Stewardship
Liveaboards are an important part of the Pacific Northwest community, and we embrace our role in helping to protect its beauty, safety, and security. We seek to:
· Improve and preserve water quality
· Protect the aquatic habitat and environment of all waters where we sail, cruise and live
· Eliminate discharges of sewage and other pollutants from all vessels
· Enlist the active participation of all liveaboards to protect and improve the natural resources that sustain our businesses, neighborhood, homes, and lifestyles
With a genuine interest in water quality preservation and improvement, the Washington Liveaboard Association adheres to comprehensive guide to "Best Management Practices" for eliminating discharges and reducing gray water and chemical discharge from vessels. The WLA encourages all boaters - especially liveaboards - to be familiar with environmentally responsible practices found in the “Resource Manual for Pollution Prevention in Marinas.” The manual was developed by a coalition of interested organizations and the Washington State Department of Ecology, and contains a wealth of information, including the location of pump-out stations throughout the state, alternative products for cleaning, and many others.
The Washington Liveaboard Association also supports and promotes environmental awareness and environmentally friendly practices. In these and many other ways, Washington Liveaboards improve and protect the quality of life for everyone in our state.
